Roca Sailing is created to put Portugal in the world map as a sailing hotspot. The spirit of the company is to expand the knowledge and awareness of the sea, raise consciousness on ocean protection & conservation, and recall the Portuguese historical sailing heritage as well as it’s natural wealth of its land and maritime landscape.

WHY ROCA?
Luís de Camões, Portugal’s biggest poet, in his “Os Lusíadas” described the glorious trips of the portuguese sailor Vasco da Gama in the 15th century. In “Canto III” he describes this piece of the coast with the following words: “Where the land ends and the sea begins, and where Helios rests in the Ocean” (In Portuguese: “Onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa, e onde Febo repousa no Oceano”). The Portuguese coastline was the limit of the world.

Luís de Camões
These words are typed in the most western point of continental Europe: Cabo da Roca. The lighthouse that stands there is the third oldest lighthouse still operating in Portugal and has been a reference for sailors along the Portuguese coast since the 18th century. We were inspired by Luís de Camões' words and the importance of the lighthouse in Portuguese nautical history.
Roca Sailing is a tribute to Portugal’s nautical heritage.
